30 Kids vs. Two Mascots: “100 Hits” Challenge Delivers High-Energy Fun and Laughter

LAS VEGAS, NV — The Buddy the Ball court was buzzing with excitement this past weekend as a group of 30 children took on an ambitious challenge: landing 100 hits on mascots Buddy and Bella in under 30 minutes.

The event, organized as part of Buddy the Ball’s summer programming, drew an enthusiastic crowd of families, volunteers, and coaches. Children lined up with racquets in hand and game faces on, eager to participate in what quickly became a fast-paced, laughter-filled showdown.

Leading the charge were four standout coaches from the Buddy the Ball team: Coach Tanner, Coach Manny, Coach Azure, and Coach Alex. The group brought a balance of structure and humor, setting the tone with lively instructions, encouraging chants, and playful banter.

“It’s all about getting active and having fun,” said Coach Tanner, who helped emcee the event while ducking the occasional stray tennis ball. “But you can’t underestimate these mascots—they’re quicker than they look!”

Buddy and Bella, the beloved larger-than-life mascots, held their ground in the center of the court, bouncing, spinning, and engaging with each child as they stepped up for their turn. The challenge was simple: hit the mascots with a foam tennis ball, and move the team one hit closer to their 100-hit goal.

From the first serve, the court turned into a spectacle. Children giggled as Buddy dramatically flopped to the ground after a direct hit, and Bella danced theatrically each time a ball zipped past. The mascots were relentless in their antics, keeping kids entertained and on their toes.

“We loved seeing how the kids encouraged each other,” said Coach Azure, who worked closely with the younger players. “Some had never held a racquet before today, but they all found a way to get involved. That’s what these events are all about.”

As the clock ticked down, the energy only grew. With just a few minutes left and the hit count nearing 90, coaches rallied the group together for a final surge. Shouts of “Go! Go! Go!” echoed around the court, and when the 100th hit finally landed—striking Buddy right in the center of his smile—the entire place erupted into cheers.

Coach Manny and Coach Alex high-fived kids as they came off the court, while parents captured the moment on phones and tablets. “We had a blast,” said one parent. “This wasn’t just a game—it was a memory.”

The event closed with photos, hugs from Buddy and Bella, and a round of popsicles to cool off after the hard-earned victory. For the children, the mascots, and the coaches, it was a day to remember—filled with movement, teamwork, and nonstop fun.
